The Dead Boy Detectives series, like Doom Patrol, is a chance to explore the weird and supernatural aspects of the DC universe which is sure to make this series an especially wild ride. “We are excited to be expanding further into the DC Universe with Steve, Jeremy and the Berlanti team with this thrilling new spin on a detective series,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max. Netflix is currently prepping a series adaptation of “The Sandman.” Gaiman currently has an overall deal at Amazon, with that streamer having aired the series version of “Good Omens.” A second season is on the way for that show while Amazon is also readying a series based on Gaiman’s “Anansi Boys.” In the comic, Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine are two deceased boys who decide not to enter the afterlife with Death, choosing to remain on Earth and form their own detective agency. Starz previously aired “American Gods,” while Netflix released the final season of “Lucifer” last year. The Dead Boy Detectives were co-created by Neil Gaiman with artists Malcolm Jones III and Matt Wagner as a spinoff for the comic book series, The Sandman, in 1991. While young people can see them, Edwin and Charles mostly drift by older people without a thought and spend their days enjoying the life they no longer have. Edwin Paine and Charles Rowland aren’t like other boysthey’re dead. This marks the latest of Gaiman’s works to get adapted for the screen.
